Clinicals 3/16/12
Breast biopsies tend to get tricky if close to the chest wall. In instances such as this the radiologist attempts to use lidocaine to lift the mass away from the chest wall. The risks of biopsing something this close to the chest wall is risk of puncturing the chest wall causing a pneumothorax. The core biopsy needles that they use have a designated "throw" when obtaining a sample so the Radiologist has to remain aware of this as well and try to remain as parallel to the chest wall as possible while still obataining a good sample. Very tricky but the Doctors i work with are amazing!!! =)

Clinicals 3/9/12
I am assisting in Breast biopsies with ultrasound guidance!!! Different doctors scan themself or have me hold the transducer depending on the location of the mass and size. Very challenging when trying to stay in a location with one hand and operate the machine with the other. Fun stuff!!! =)

Clinicals 2/3/12
Ive learned that no matter how many years you have been in this field there will always be something that you come across and dont know, mostly all of the sonographers have said this. They also say that other sonographers are a huge asset to have because two pairs of eyes are better than one and never be afraid to ask a question. They are very supportive of me and I truly appreciate it! =)

Clinicals 1/13/12
Clinicals are awesome!!!! OB rotation is very cool I was able to see a twin to twin transfusion case. The perinatologist at that facility does operations to correct it. Hes very knowledgable about the surgery process because he does the procedure. Very amazing!!! =)
